The Teaching Profession
“Why
am I here? What is the purpose of God for me?”
These
are my questions for the past few days after enrolling in the CIT program.
Though I am grateful for the opportunity, deep within me, I am seeking deeper
meaning and purpose in pursuing this path.
I graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Business
Administration majoring in marketing. I don’t have any teaching experiences
outside except the experiences I had inside the church. I was assigned to be a
Sunday school teacher, a youth leader, a dance teacher, and a bible study
sharer. I am not skilled in teaching, but I enjoy preparing lessons, teaching,
and sharing what I learned and my skills. I remember, watching youth and elders
who are not skilled in dancing, but I was able to let them dance- that is
rewarding for me. Witnessing young people’s lives changed and transformed by
the Word of God because I allowed myself to be an instrument of God to guide,
teach, and nurture them- is a fulfillment.
Teaching
is not a merely profession but a calling with a mission. A mission to reach out
to young people and take them to the world where they discover their purpose,
unleash their potential, and become better individuals in their homes and in
their communities.
If
I become a fully pledged teacher, with God’s help, I envision myself as an educator
fueled by purpose, compassion, and commitment. My goal is to nurture the spirit
of “David” in this goliath world of today's 21st century, empowering the youth
to understand their potential to overcome any obstacle. I aspire to instill
faith, values, humility, resilience, and love for one another. I am convinced
that these attributes are essential for becoming an excellent teacher.
