The Kind of Professional Teacher I Aspire to be

We are now at the final part of our module, and another chapter comes to a close. Allow me to take you back to our first meeting, where I remember the words of our teacher- words I have never forgotten.  She said, "It is not an accident that you are here and enrolled in my class." At the time, her words were so comforting and reassuring that I felt I was on the right path. Indeed, the words of a good teacher echo throughout a student's life, and that's how my teachers' words continue to echo in mine. Encouraged by this example, I want my life to do the same. I want my words and actions to resonate throughout my future students' lives. I hope to be remembered as a teacher who made a difference and  left a lasting impact.

I want my future students to remember me by my name “joie”.

Joyful- A kind of teacher who brought joy into the classroom and made learning a positive experience. A teacher who puts the needs of her students first.

Open-hearted- A teacher who listened with compassion and cared deeply for each student. A teacher who is open to embracing every student's differences, treating them with equity and without judgment.

Inspiring, Innovative, interactive- A teacher who always encouraged them to dream big, believe in their God-given potential, and be resilient. A teacher who instilled a love and passion for learning by being a model of it- bringing learning to life, making content interactive, and using technology creatively to make learning fun and exciting through engaging activities.

Excellent, empowering, effective - A teacher who excels in everything she does. Someone who is deeply knowledgeable in her content area, grounded in sound pedagogy, and fully understands the complexities of teaching and learning process. 

To me, teaching is more than delivering lessons. Its about guiding her students through their academic, behavioral, and moral development. I want to be remembered as a teacher who empowered her students. One who encouraged them to take ownership of their learning, to think critically and creatively. Someone who models how to become responsible digital citizen, promotes online netiquette, and effectively upholds legal and ethical mandates.


            To achieve my aspirations, I will begin by cultivating a growth mindset within myself. I will believe in my capacity to learn, grow, and improve. I will embrace challenges courageously as opportunities for development and view setbacks and failures as valuable learning experiences and stepping stones on my journey to becoming the teacher I aspire to be. Next, I will utilize the PPST or Philippine Professional Standards for Teachers as my guide and roadmap to identify my strengths and areas that need improvement. This framework will serve as my compass, helping me align my focus and goals as an educator. Furthermore, I will actively engage with experts and fellow educators through professional learning communities and organizations. Sharing ideas, receiving feedback, collaborating on projects, and learning from others' experiences will expand my understanding of my subject matter and effective teaching methods.

          Just like Paul in the bible, I want my students to remember and put into practice the  good things they will learn, hear, and see from me in the future.
